Reflection
By Kathryn Evans
Unreadable face
Watching slyly without expression
Familiar yet unexpected
Sad blue eyes the color of slate
Round cheeks, round nose
Untouched lips ready with a smile
Image seems unimportant
Unmatching to the inside
Misleading to the outside world
Outside won’t change the core
Yet neither can the inside change the casing
Both must coexist despite the other
Wisps of auburn hair
Thick curls or waves
Never perfect and always ignored
Skin that will never be called flawless
Body that will never be called petite
Perfection can’t be attained, yet acceptance sought
