Washed Clean

By Kathryn Evans

Thoughts swirling. Memories tumbling.

Chaos reins in the unclean mind.

Half formed thoughts try to grab purchase,

But slip from my dirty grasp

Then the water flows. The steam rises.

The white tiles become slick and smooth

I step into the water and let it wash thought.

Let the heat purge memory from my mind.

The water streams down and washes away the past,

Cleanses the present, and prepares for the future.

Crystal clear water brings clarity and focus,

Driving away concerns and unclean thoughts.

Steam rises, water flows, swirling thoughts are washed clean.

New thoughts are born and given clean hope
